The Heights is working closely with the Youth Sport Trust to develop the wellbeing of our students. As a school we are heavily involved with the trust’s ‘My Personal Best’ programme. This allows students to develop not only physically through physical education, but also socially and emotionally. The aim of the programme is to develop life skills such as confidence, teamwork, communication, motivation, self management and resilience to name a few. Our school’s belief is that developing the life skills and increasing the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of our students, results in increased achievement and attainment.

Alongside this we are also part of the Youth Sport Trust’s ‘Active Healthy Minds’. Incorporated into this is what is known as ‘Getting to the start line’. This is to help students to build confidence and help alleviate the stress some young people face in preparing for exams. The aim is to help our students reach their potential and achieve their peak performance by working with an athlete role model who share with them the skills and activities used in sport to manage pressure and stress.

Our overall involvement with the Youth Sport Trust has great benefits for our students’ health and wellbeing and we are excited to be working closely with them.

“The culture and ethos of the school encourages a caring and supportive environment in which learning and good behaviour can flourish.”
